In xential|studio, you can work with placeholders. A placeholder is a temporary element that reserves space for the final text or image. This is useful when designing templates, so you can build the layout without all content being available yet. This article describes how to enable and use placeholders.


Preparation

The Developer tab must first be made visible in Microsoft Word. This is a one-time action performed outside of xential|studio.

Close xential|studio if it is open.

Open Microsoft Word separately (without xential|studio).

Enable the Developer tab via File > Options > Customise Ribbon and check Developer.

Close Microsoft Word.


Step-by-step guide

Open xential|studio. The Developer tab is now visible in the Word ribbon.

Using the Developer tab, add a placeholder at the desired location in the template.

Save the template and test whether everything works as expected.


Result

The locations where you added placeholders display temporary content. These can later be replaced with the final text or images.
