Since September 2018, new rules apply to government publications regarding digital accessibility. The WCAG guidelines (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) are now a legal obligation for all government organisations. The xential|validate module allows you to check whether templates, headers/footers and components comply with these guidelines.

What does xential|validate offer?
Xential|validate validates objects against a set of supplied rules aimed at making information digitally accessible. In xential|manager, you can run a check on templates and then view an overview of the requirements and whether the template meets them. When a template does not comply, you receive tips to adjust and improve it immediately.
Accessibility levels
Xential|validate can check against multiple levels of accessibility:
- Level A: contains the basic requirements for accessible documents. In practice, this level alone is not always sufficient.
- Level AA: the level recommended by WCAG that is sufficient for most organisations.
- Level AAA: contains requirements that are not always technically feasible. WCAG describes this level as an aspiration.
